WELCOME

On behalf of the entire Journey Community, welcome! We are so very glad that you will be attending North Texas Journey #17! The Journey Community is engaged in much planning, preparation, and prayer for your weekend. We hope the following information will answer some of the questions you might have about the weekend. If, at any point, you have other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. It is our hope that these three days will be a great experience for you. We look forward to sharing the Journey with you!

Sincerely,

Cathy Hansen

Check-in will take place from 6 – 7pm on Thursday in Bishop Mason Lodge.

ARRIVAL

Plan to arrive at Camp Crucis between 6 – 7pm on Thursday evening. We will then share dinner together at 7pm.

DAILY

The majority of the weekend will be spent indoors – either in the conference room, chapel, dining hall, or cabins. Dress comfortably.

While there will be breaks and free time each day, most of our time together will be scheduled. We ask that everyone plan to be present for all scheduled activities and to be present for the entire weekend.

One of the primary purposes of the Journey is to allow you to examine and strengthen your relationship with God. To this end, you will be encouraged to set aside as many daily distractions as possible during these three days. It is especially important to have no interruptions (phone calls, visits, or business matters) during the entire three days.

DEPARTURE

The Journey will conclude at approximately 3:30pm on Sunday.

WHAT TO EXPECT

FOOD & DRINK

MEALS

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided each day by the camp. The meals are typical “camp food” – lots of carbs. There will be a great salad bar available at each lunch and dinner. If you have any special dietary needs, please feel free to communicate these to the Registrar ahead of time.

SNACKS
A variety of snacks will be available throughout the day.

DRINKS
Soft drinks, water, coffee, and tea will be available throughout the day.

ALCOHOL

No alcohol will be provided during the weekend. If you choose to bring alcohol with you, we ask that you only consume it in the privacy of your own cabin, and not until all scheduled activities for the day have concluded. Please be mindful that these three days will be spent living in community, and that others present may consider alcohol to be a distraction or hindrance to their relationship with God.

SMOKING

Smoking is not permitted inside any buildings (this includes e-cigarettes). Please observe designated smoking areas and keep in mind that we will be in a slightly wooded, outdoor setting.

Again, one of the primary purposes of the Journey is to allow you to examine and strengthen your relationship with God. In the past, Journey participants have been asked to leave all forms of technology behind for the entire weekend.

We know this is no longer realistic as many of us have incorporated our phones into our prayer and study life through apps and online Bibles. We would ask, however, that everyone refrain from checking email, receiving or making phone calls, texting, or checking social media during the Journey, especially during all scheduled activities.

It is our hope that you would give yourself the gift of fewer distractions for these three days to get the most out of this experience.

You are welcome to reach out to anyone in the Journey Community with any questions about the weekend. Your sponsor, especially, is happy to answer any questions or address any concerns you have.

Since we hope that you will be able to divest of some of the everyday distractions of life during these three days, it will be helpful if you don’t carry your phone with you during the day. However, if you would like to make sure friends or family can reach you immediately in case of an emergency, please feel free to give them the emergency contact number listed below. This person will always be reachable during the Journey. This is also the best person to contact in case you are lost or running late on Thursday.
